Global (traveling)
After college, I spent some years working in corporations, but it wasn’t long before I found my way into the world of intentional communities in Seattle. I was stunned here to discover such an abundance of deep connection, exploration, and transformation. Up to that point, I had considered these things some of life’s precious rarities. In the communities, they were no less precious, but they ceased to be rare. Transformation and deep connection happened every day. It was in one of these communities that I encountered Possibility Management.
What I loved (and still love!) about Possibility Management is the clear throughline that connects a person’s individual healing, the awakening of their unusual potentials, and the possibility for them of collaboratively contributing their unique piece to the human project. I used to regard the idea of “everyone is special” as something hokey. After years spent in transformational spaces with hundreds of participants unfolding their potential, I think there is nothing more important (or fun!) than human beings discovering, amplifying, and delivering exactly what is special in them. Gaia needs it. The global village needs it. This is the adventure I hold space for.
I recently read a quote from American astronaut Rusty Schweickart. In the quote, Rusty talks about his experience of Earth Rise, looking down from the space shuttle and watching our planet come into view. Something shifted in him when he witnessed Earth Rise. My interpretation is that his consciousness was suddenly upgraded from an isolated individual to a “sensing element” (his words), aware of his inextricable connectedness with and responsibility for planet Earth. What is needed so that those of us with our feet on the ground can wake up to our interconnectedness and role as Gaians? I carry this question with me as an Expand the Box Trainer.
